GAUSHALA, May 2: Police seized logs of different type of woods worth Rs 600,000 from Khesraha Khairawanighat of Mahottari district on Friday evening.

Armed Police Superintendent Madan Singh Bista said the woods were being transported to India illegally from the forest of the Sagarnath Forest Project. Smugglers were taking those logs in six bullock carts after chopping illegally.

Police held various kinds of woods including Sal and Sisau along with bullock carts and handed over to the officials of the Sagarnath Forest Project for necessary action.

Police said smugglers fled from the scene leaving the logs after the police reached the area.
