KHOTANG, April 11: A two-day 'Red Panda and Tahr Festival-2082' is being held here from next Monday on the occasion of 'Mundum Trail Visit Year-2025.'
The objective of the festival organized by Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality is to conserve and promote the endangered Red Panda and Himalayan Tahr, said Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai. The red panda and the tahr are both endangered species of wild animals native to the country.
The festival is being held at Hurlung on the Diktel-Halesi road section along the Mid-Hill Highway. It will also include a food festival and a display of local costumes, lifestyles, and products according to the customs and culture of various ethnic groups in the region.

Photos and videos related to red pandas and tahr will be exhibited and screened during the festival.
On the occasion, the ‘Mundum Trail Red Panda-Tahr Route,’ which starts from Hurlung on the Diktel-Halesi road section of the Mid-Hill Highway, will be inaugurated by actor Dayahang Rai, the goodwill ambassador of ‘Mundum Trail Visit Year-2025.’
The Mundum Trail Visit Year 2025 is taking place with the target of attracting around one hundred thousand domestic and foreign tourists.
