SPORTS BRIEFS: LGBTI Sports Festival concludes

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The first ever LGBTI Sports Festival in South Asia concluded in Kathmandu on Sunday. Kathmandu defeated a joint team of Far Western and Western Region 4-2 in the football final on the concluding day of the three-day festival organized by Blue Diamond Society.Likewise, Roshan Mahato of Kathmandu finished 100m sprint in 13.14 seconds and clinched gold medal.



Far Western Region won the 4x100m relay race. Altogether 300 LGBTI athletes participated in the festival. Greg Louganis, who won two gold medals each in 1984 and 1988 Olympics from diving, and BDS Executive Director Sunil Babu Pant handed over awards to the winners of different events.[break]



Team for Blind Cricket World Cup announced



KATHMANDU
: Cricket Association of the Blind, Nepal anounced a 21-member Nepali team, including 14 players, on Sunday for the First T20 World Cup of Blind Cricket to be held in Banglore, India from November 30 to December 14. The team includes Kritan Shrestha as the captain and Bikram Rana as the vice captain.



Rana had also participated in the athletics events in the London Paralympics last month. Other players in the Nepali squad are Sunil Subedi, Rajendra Prasad Dhital, Santos Sapkota, Jivan Tamang, Jay Sagar Giri, Ram Prasad Paudel, Amar Oli, Durga Dutta Paudel, Khimananda Gaire, Surya Prasad Bhattarai, Shakar Regmi and Lok Bahadur Thapa.
