SPORTS BRIEFS: Sujal Cafe win title

KATHMANDU, March 12: Sujal Cafe won the title of Everest Chandeshwori Gold Cup National Invitational Seven-A-Side football tournament held in Banepa, Kavre on Saturday.



Sunil Subedi hit the decider in the 48th minute to beat the first-tier New Road Team (NRT) 2-1 in the final.[break]



Earlier, Surendra Shrestha had given 18th minute lead to Sujal but Jeetendra Karki hit an equalizer 10 minutes later for NRT. The winners Sujal bagged a purse of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy while the runners up NRT received Rs 30,000. Kamal Bista of the winning side was adjudged the best player. Binod Lama (4 goals) of Kavre Red won the highest scorer award. Kavre Red were also given the fair play award. They all bagged a purse of Rs 5,000 each.



Jamshedpur triumph


JHAPA: Jamshedpur XI beat Patna XI by seven runs in the Fourth Binesh Verma Memorial One Day Cricket Tournament in Bhadrapur, Jhapa on Saturday. Winning the toss, Jameshdpur elected to bat first in the 40 overs match and scored 80 runs in 27.1 overs. Mohammad Wasim scored 21 runs off 40 balls for Jamshedpur. Chasing the low total, Patna were bowled out in 19 overs with 73 runs on board. Ujjwal Kumar of Jamshedpur took three wickets in five overs with four maiden giving away just one run. Rahul Prajad took four wickets while Subash Pandey grabbed three.
