Stranded tourists rescued from Langtang area

DHUNCHE(Rasuwa), April 29: At least 219 foreign and 132 domestic tourists stranded at the Langtang area were rescued on Wednesday.

The Nepal Army personnel and Manang Air Helicopter launched a day long rescue effort to airlift the stranded tourists.

A relief collection, management and distribution committee has been formed under the coordination of Local Development Officer, Gajendra Kumar Thakur, to post relief camps at Timure, Syafrubeshi, Thambuchet, Kalikasthan and Dhunche.

The government has also announced providing Rs 40,000 each to families with members dying in the earthquake, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 to families with entire houses razed down and with partially wrecked homes respectively.

Rescue efforts of those buried under the ruins of the demolished houses is still continuing in Rasuwagadi and Mailung areas. RSS
