According to Nepal Professional Golfers´ Association (NPGA), the event will be played over 72 holes from Monday to Thursday and the cut will be applied after the completion of 36 holes to send only top 21 pros and ties into the final 36 holes. Top six amateurs would also join the top 21 pros in the final rounds. [break]
Altogether 26 professional golfers will vie for the winner´s trophy and Rs 80,000 out of the total cash prize of Rs 385,000. Runner-up will earn Rs 51,000 while third position holder would be rich by Rs 40,000. Top 21 pros and ties will earn prize money.
In the amateurs´ section, 13 golfers have registered for the event.
Winner of four events in this season, Shiva Ram Shrestha, current season´s money leader and defending champion Rupak Acharya, last season´s order of merit winner Rabi Khadka, tournament winners of this season Sanjay Lama and Ram Thapa are expected to put up a splendid performance in this last event of the season.
GP foundation honors players
GP Koirala Foundation honored the medalists of the 11th South Asian Games (SAG) and the 16th Asian Games (Asiad) on Sunday.
The organizers also honored Mehaboob Aalam for his 10-wicket haul against Mozambique during the World Cricket League Division-5 in 2008.
Nepal had won eight gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals in the 11th South Asian games held in Bangladesh in early 2010.
Sito-ryu Karate Association also received a letter of appreciation for contributing three of the eight golds during the SAG. Nepal only managed to bag one bronze in the Asiad held in China last November.
The foundation was established in memory of former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
Khumaltar, Mandala triumph
Khumaltar Youth Club and Mandala Football Club registered win in the Martyrs Memorial C-Division League qualifiers on Sunday.
Khumaltar thrashed Shree Ganesh Youth Club 8-1 while Mandala surpassed Galkopakha Youth Club 4-3 in the tiebreaker at ANFA Complex Lalitpur. Khumaltar´s Sabin KC scored four goals for his team.
