The Maoists: To Revolt or Not to Revolt!

Revolution is always dreadful because it has negative impacts on citizens. The Maoists are seen as propagandists because while they have always said that they are in favor of the public but in fact, they are playing with the feelings of the same public. They shouldn’t carry out such activities after coming to political power, and especially at a time when peace and security should be maintained.

Being a shopkeeper, I must tackle with lots of problems. I have to manage my family on the small amount of income I get from my shop. If such things happen again, then I’ll have to shut down my shop, an action which can heavily affect my family. There has to be a level of understanding between political parties to never let it happen.

Anur Tuladhar, shopkeeper

We hardly understand the political scenarios. The Maoists and the Nepali Congress never come to major agreements. They always try to pull each other’s legs rather than thinking for the betterment of the people. All political leaders should come out with common viewpoints which can bring some changes for both the people and the country.

Bhawani Pant, housewife

Riots always hamper the smooth development of our country. Being a student, I don’t find revolution a very good way to express our problems. If such things happen again, then my studies will be negatively affected. This way, our education level will deteriorate. Most of the students here are from out of the Kathmandu Valley, and they are the most victimized lot when these things take place.

Yogendra Pandey, student

We bring most of our goods from the neighboring countries. If we aren’t able to bring our goods, then we can’t sell, and hence our earning will be stopped. This way, even the development of the country won’t be possible. Politicians are the representatives of the people; so they should give importance to the public’s needs, instead of being self-centered.

Laxman Prasad Poudel, street vendor
