I come from a difficult past

With a complicated story

That I told anyone who had time to listen

I borrowed pity and made it my best friend

I wanted attention for all the things that were so “terrible”

And guilt for all those who could not make it better.

But with you, things were different

I wanted you to get know the people I loved to hate

I wanted you to understand where I came from

If it was not for you

I do not think I’d ever grown up
