The decision of the Gandaki provincial government came following a directive from the federal government earlier on Tuesday. According to Bharat Nepal, General Secretary of the Central Federation of Public Transport, the protest has been withdrawn with a one-month deadline for addressing their demands. “We received a formal letter from the Gandaki Province. Public transport services have now resumed,” he said.

Public transport entrepreneurs had suspended services since Monday, demanding the withdrawal of the Gandaki Province Ride-Sharing (Regulation and Management) Guidelines, which permitted red-plate private vehicles to operate as ride-sharing services. The general public faced severe hardships as more than 700,000 public vehicles remained off the roads.
