KATHMANDU, July 18: Senior Orthopedic Surgeon Govinda KC has been on a fast-unto-death for the last 19 days in Jumla, demanding endorsement of Medical Education Act that bars establishment of medical colleges in the Kathmandu Valley for 10 years.
KC has been reiterating that the report prepared by the Mathema Commission should be implemented in a letter and spirit.

The government had assigned the high level taskforce to recommend new national policy on medical education that would determine directive principles of the medical education in Nepal.
The high level task-force had prepared the report in 2072 BS which analyzes discrepancies, problems and challenges seen in the medical education in Nepal.
