Making its report on Haque´s murder public at the Sagarmatha Zonal Police Office in Rajbiraj on Friday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinesh Acharya revealed that Haque´s daughter Rubeda Khatun and wife Nurjaha masterminded the cold-blooded murder. [break]
The report made public 19 days after Haque´s death said Rubeda in collusion with her lover Moulabi (Maulana) Mohammad Jamirul Sheikh had plotted the murder as Haque was against his daughter marrying Jamirul. “Her mother abetted Nurjaha in Haque´s murder to clear the way for her marriage,” said DSP Acharya.
Rubeda and Nurjaha were arrested from their home in Kalyanpur-2, Bishanpur, while Abdur Rauf, 40, of Chatari-6 of Siraha, one of the two contract killers hired for the murder, was arrested from the Indian border.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjaya Singh Basnet informed that two contract killers were close to Jamirul. Another contract killer Ainul Sheikh of Chatari in Siraha and Jamirul are at large after the murder.
DSP Acharya said the accused had plotted the murder five months ago. Haque´s daughter and wife had entrusted Jamirul with hiring contract killers. Acharya also said that they had planned to hire contract killers from India but ended up hiring Nepali contract killers. Jamirul had paid the contract killers 15 days before the murder took place.
Rauf and Ainul had kept a close eye on Haque for five days before executing the murder.
“On the day of the murder, Jamirul had called the killers from Lahan after Haque´s daughter Rubeda informed them that Haque would sleep alone at his petrol pump,” SP Basnet informed. He also informed that Jamirul had helped the assassins enter the petrol pump at around 10 pm. After killing Haque at around 12 pm, the three had returned to Lahan also carrying with them the two mobile phones used by Haque.
“Haque´s cell phone provided a solid base for concluding the investigation,” said SP Basnet. “The killers´ greatest mistake was to take Haque´s cell phone with them,” he added.
