MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 3: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Planning and Works Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadhar has said a Maoist led government is acceptable if the conclusion of the peace process and constitution drafting is guaranteed.

If a strong base is prepared ensuring Maoist party without its People’s Liberation Army and weapons, then a Maoist led government is possible, he said speaking at a press meet organised in Mahendranagar Monday.[break]

Anybody who talks about formation of a government under Maoist leadership without transforming it into a civilian party is day dreaming, he said. “But my party wants a Congress-UML coalition government and I hope the Maoist party will also back this government.”

The new government should be formed at any cost within Jan. 9 even through majority basis, he said.

If the major political parties do not forge consensus on government formation, then Madhesi parties should get an opportunity to lead, he said.
