Speaking at the beginning of the meeting held at Dr. Harka Gurung Hall of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Chairman of the Interim Election Council (IEC), Khil Raj Regmi, has said the political parties were to create environment for CA and pointed out the need for taking necessary initiatives in this regard.[break]
Mainly, the political parties are responsible to forge environment for the elections, the government and the Election Commission (EC) are just the mediators, therefore, it has no meaning to say that the government has not taken any initiative, Chairman Regmi said.
He said the government would manage a fear-free environment by deploying security personnel for peace and security in the election. It will manage human resource as per the demand of the EC and that the EC would have the responsibility of holding free and fair elections, added IEC Chairman Regmi.
But the political parties are responsible to forging environment for the election, he said and urged the political parties to be serious in this regard, said Regmi.
The meeting is the second one between the political parties and the government.
During the meeting, senior leaders of the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic), Rastriya Janashakti Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party -Nepal, and Chure Bhawar Ekta Party, among other parties were present in the meeting.
