KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday annulled lower courts’ decisions to put journalist Bikash Thapa on remand and released him bail.

Thapa was accused of sexual harassment using emails under the Electronic Transaction Act 2063. The Kathmandu District Court and Appellate Court had ordered to put him on remand for further investigation.

While delivering the verdict, SC judges Tahir Ali Ansari and Prakash Wasti noted that although it was not clear that Thapa was innocent, denying him release on bail was no in accordance of the existing laws.
