KATHMANDU, August 15: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav in the first constitutional step toward forming a new government has given a week´s time for political parties to form a government based on political consensus.

As per the notice issued under the Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution on Monday, political parties are required to recommend a consensus-based prime ministerial candidate to the president by Sunday. [break]

On two previous occasions, the parties had failed to recommend a consensus candidate within given deadlines.
