As per the notice issued under the Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution on Monday, political parties are required to recommend a consensus-based prime ministerial candidate to the president by Sunday. [break]
On two previous occasions, the parties had failed to recommend a consensus candidate within given deadlines.
If parties fail to agree on a consensus government, the president will invoke 38 (2) of the Interim Constitution and send a notice to the parliament to elect a new prime minister from the parliament.
