Innovative, Deneb qualify for nat´l championship
KATHMANDU: Innovative and Deneb qualified for the Second U-14 Inter-school National Basketball Championship as both the teams reached the final of Kathmandu Valley eastern zone qualifiers on Saturday. Innovative beat New Shrine 37-20 and Deneb hammered Golden Peak 32-15 to book their places in the championship to be held in Kathmandu from February 19 to 26. In the western zone qualifiers, Pushpa Sadan beat Siddhartha Vanasthali 38-24, New Zenith edged past LRI 36-24, Wilson Academy thrashed Intensive 59-4 and Rara Hill defeated Mount Glory 30-10 to advance into the semifinals.
Likewise, Rato Bangala and Nirmal School won their respective matches in the southern zone qualifiers. The top two teams from each zone will qualify for the championship, which will also feature two teams from each zone of Lalitpur and one team each from Kaski, Sunsari, Kavrepalanchowk and Bhaktapur. The departmental schools -- Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army School -- will get direct entry into the final round.
