Nepal claims 6 golds in karate
KATHMANDU : Nepal became the champion of the Second Indo-Nepal Karate Championship that concluded in Kathmandu on Saturday. Nepal clinched 6 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals in the championship organized by Nepal Wado-ryu Karate-do Association. India finished second with 3 gold, 6 silver and 24 bronze medals while Myanmar claimed 1 gold and 4 bronze medals. Mohan Tamang and Sushila Maharjan of Nepal were adjudged the best players of the tournament in the men"s and women"s section respectively.
Gautam wins chess tourney
KATHMANDU: Soviet Gautam of Reliance International School clinched the title of Second Pioneer Inter-school Chess Tournament on Saturday. Gautam defeated Bhuwan Dahal of host Pioneer International School, Kapan in the last round to accumulate five points and win the title. Though Sandesh Katuwal of the host garnered five points in the tournament, he remained behind Gautam in progressive points. With the win, Gautam sealed the running shield for his school. Dahal finished third with four points.
