Trade union stage demos demanding release of arrested workers

KATHMANDU, March 27: The All Nepal Revolutionary Trade Union Federation staged a protest meet in front of the Ncell office in New Baneswar, calling for release of the workers arrested last week.



The Federation was demanding the release of Tek Bahadur Basnet, Ek Bahadur BK, Lila Thapa arrested by the political administration a week ago.



The Federation has been staging various rounds of protest calling for reinstatement of what it says the 87 employees working for Hello Nepal sacked after TeliaSonera brought company. TeliaSonera run Ncell mobile telephone service provider in Nepal.



Speaking on the occasion, Coordinator of the Federation Ramdeep Acharya said the arrested workers must be released immediately and accused the multi-national company of violating Nepal´s labour act by sacking the employees.



Likewise, Coordinator of the Media Press and Publishing Workers´ Association, Janma Dev Jaisi urged the service recipients of the Company to stop using its service and the staff of the Company to stop working until the issue was resolved.
