He enquired about progress in the integration and rehabilitation of former Maoist combatants, and encouraged rapid agreement on a Nepali-led monitoring mechanism, according to a statement from the British embassy.
"Ambassador Tucknott urged the parties to resume sustained, serious negotiations that should be held in private," the embassy said.
The ambassador expressed hope that UNMIN´s departure on 15 January would mark the start of a new chapter where the Nepali parties take responsibility for completion of the peace process.
While expressing the UK government´s concerns, the ambassador also assured its continued engagement and support to Nepal in these challenging times.
