CAAN tightens paragliding regulations after Fewa lake accident

Two paragliders carrying Indian tourists crash-landed in Fewa Lake on Wednesday, prompting a swift rescue and no casualties. In response, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the pilots and ordered a detailed investigation. Citing safety concerns and unregulated competition, CAAN is now enforcing stricter rules, including mandatory rescue boats, regular pilot testing, and a plan to restructure the paragliding industry for better oversight.

POKHARA, June 12: Around 3 PM on Wednesday, two paragliders crashed into Fewa Lake. Rescue teams promptly responded and safely rescued both pilots and the Indian tourists onboard.
