During the Gen Z protests, demonstrators had set fire to the Budhanilkantha residence of then Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba. Deuba and former central committee member Arzu Rana Deuba were also reportedly attacked during the incident. Videos circulating on social media showed cash being burned at the site.

A similar incident of arson was reported at the Budhanilkantha residence of another Congress leader, Deepak Khadka, where footage also showed money being destroyed in the fire.

Thapa also stressed the need for evidence-based investigations into the misuse of authority and policy-level corruption.
