Govt recalls ambassadors from six countries

Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Kshetri said the decision was taken at last Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, and written notices were sent on Monday. The ambassadors have been instructed to return to Nepal within one month.

KATHMANDU, April 7: The government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah has decided to recall politically appointed ambassadors from six countries, including India.



Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Kshetri said the decision was taken at last Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, and written notices were sent on Monday. The ambassadors have been instructed to return to Nepal within one month.

The recalled ambassadors are Dr Shankar Sharma (India), Chitralekha Yadav (Australia), Sumnima Tuladhar (Denmark), Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe (South Korea), Kapilman Shrestha (South Africa), and Purn Bahadur Nepali (Sri Lanka).


Earlier, ruling party chair Rabi Lamichhane had publicly urged in Parliament that the ambassadors resign.
