KATHMANDU, March 27: The government has decided to form a high-level investigation committee within a week to probe the incident that occurred on September 9—a day after the Gen Z protest in Kathmandu.

The decision, made public on Friday, is among 100 governance reform action points endorsed by the Cabinet. The committee will be mandated to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

It will be tasked with collecting all relevant details, conducting an in-depth analysis, and identifying those responsible. Action will be initiated based on its recommendations.

The action plan also states that, based on the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, necessary investigation, action and prosecution against those found guilty will be promptly pursued in accordance with prevailing laws.

Seeking to address the longstanding issue of commission reports remaining confined to records without implementation, the government has pledged to initiate the required legal, administrative and prosecutorial processes within 30 days to implement such recommendations.
