KATHMANDU, April 6: A delegation from the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) met with Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, to discuss concerns over government advertising policies.
The FNJ, led by Chairperson Nirmala Sharma, raised concerns regarding a directive issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on April 1, which mandates that government notices and advertisements be published or broadcast only through government-owned media outlets.

Minister Dr. Timilsina explained that government advertisement funds had been widely misused in the past, with working journalists benefiting little while brokers exploited the previous system. He emphasised his commitment to supporting journalists and meeting their legitimate demands.
The FNJ delegation urged the Minister to reconsider the directive and ensure transparency in government advertising practices.
