CHITWAN, June 24: The first national general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has published the preliminary list of candidates contesting for the party’s central committee.
A total of 384 candidates have filed nominations for 99 central member positions, according to party officials.
RSP leader Netra Lamichhane said 210 candidates are competing for 64 open-category seats, while 174 candidates have filed nominations under the provincial representation category. Under the party’s structure, five central members will be elected from each of the seven provinces.

Among the provincial candidates, 18 are from Sudurpashchim, 20 from Madhesh, 31 from Lumbini, 20 from Koshi, 31 from Karnali, 27 from Bagmati and 27 from Gandaki provinces.
The party has opened a period for claims and objections following the publication of the preliminary list. A final candidate list will be released after the verification process is completed.
Lamichhane said that once the final list is uploaded to the electronic voting system, voting for central committee members is expected to take place the following night.
Meanwhile, party founder and chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has already been elected unopposed as the party president.
