Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the US and Nepal in 1947, the two countries have been enjoying cordial relations, with thriving cooperation based on mutual respect and people-to-people relations, Speaker Aryal said, adding that both countries respect democracy, human rights and freedoms.
The Speaker believed the US-Nepal ties entering their 80th year next year would be an opportunity to further foster cooperation and partnership and deepen relations that have subsisted for eight decades. He informed that efforts were on for the restructuring of the Nepal-US parliamentary friendship group. Such a friendship group would help spur parliamentary relations, trade, tourism and cultural exchanges.
The Speakers' secretariat further shared that Speaker Aryal expressed gratitude to the US government for its continued support to Nepal's socioeconomic development, institutional strengthening and development of human capital. Nepal is committed to reinforcing the Nepal-US ties, he vowed.
In response, Chargé d'Affaires Urbom expressed commitment to friendly and cooperative relations between Nepal and the US. The US is interested in cooperating with the Nepalese government for advancing democratic values, good governance, economic development and relations at the people's level, according to Speaker Aryal's secretariat.
