KATHMANDU, June 12: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Khusbu Oli has raised concerns over Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal’s handling of border-related issues during his recent visit to India, saying his approach was unsatisfactory.
Speaking in Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Oli said the minister did not raise the border dispute during official talks in Delhi.
India reiterates its stance on border issue
She alleged that the issue was only mentioned later in a closed-door interaction with journalists after the visit, and not addressed publicly even after returning to Kathmandu.
“The Foreign Minister did not speak about the border issue anywhere during the official talks in Delhi. He later raised it in a closed room with journalists after the visit. Even after returning to Kathmandu, he did not address it when journalists asked,” she said.
Oli also claimed that for the first time in four years, the issue of border disputes was missing from Nepal’s official press note following the visit.
She urged the Foreign Minister to firmly raise the issue during his upcoming visit to China as well.
