Traffic police said the use of black window films makes it difficult to see inside vehicles, increasing the risk of criminal activities such as the transportation of illegal weapons, drugs, gold, counterfeit currency and the movement of fugitives.

Police said the operation follows provisions of the Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 1993, which prohibits modifications that alter a vehicle's approved specifications without authorization. Authorities said inspections and action against vehicles using illegal black window films will continue.
