President Paudel paid tribute to all the sisters and brothers who lost their lives during the devastating earthquake that struck Gorkha district (Barpak) on 25 April 2015, and its subsequent aftershocks.
"An earthquake is a natural disaster. Widening urbanization each year is also increasing the earthquake risk. Though we cannot prevent earthquakes, we can at least protect ourselves from the potential risks that may result', the message reads.
He noted that Nepal's geographical location and structure, along with human-made physical structures, are major causes of earthquake risks. "There is a need to continuously conduct campaigns for safe construction and vigilance. In newly built and rebuilt physical structures, our originality should be reflected, alongside earthquake-resistant technology", it is stated in the message.
