Although the commission had initially asked him to appear on Friday, Lekhak said he informed them that he would attend on December 29 due to time constraints.
Responding to a question on whether he had discussed the matter with NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Lekhak said no such discussion had taken place. “There has been no conversation on this issue. I have made the decision myself,” he said.
Earlier, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli had stated that summoning the then prime minister and home minister for questioning in connection with the same incidents would not be legally appropriate. Oli has maintained his stance that he will not appear before the commission.
