KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The foundation stone for the construction of a new school building at Shree Rajya Laxmi Secondary School in Siddhicharan Municipality-5, Okhaldhunga, was jointly laid on Tuesday under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).
The foundation stone was laid by Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Tejan Khanal, Mayor of Siddhicharan Municipality, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of India in Nepal.
Foundation stone laid for 40-MW Upper Chameliya project
The school building is being constructed with financial assistance of more than Rs 40 million from the Government of India. The project is being implemented through Siddhicharan Municipality as part of India’s HICDP in Nepal.
According to project details, the new school infrastructure will comprise a three-and-a-half-storey building aimed at improving educational facilities in the district.
Mayor Khanal, representatives of the school management committee, and other local stakeholders expressed appreciation for the Government of India’s support, stating that the project would significantly contribute to strengthening the local education system, the press release noted.
The India–Nepal partnership is characterized by wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. Officials said the continued assistance under the HICDP reflects the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, particularly in the areas of growth, development, and people-centric infrastructure.
