KATHMANDU, May 11: The government has announced plans to move forward with constitutional amendments in coordination and consultation with political parties.
Presenting the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year at a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Monday, President Ram Chandra Paudel said the government would identify common issues for constitutional amendment through dialogue and cooperation among political forces.
He stated that a discussion paper would be prepared to ensure equal ownership and representation of all classes, regions, and communities within the constitutional framework.

“The government will prepare a constitutional amendment discussion paper by identifying common agendas through dialogue and cooperation with political parties to ensure equal ownership for all groups, regions, and communities,” the President said while reading the policy document.
The government had already formed a task force led by Prime Minister Balen Shah’s political adviser Asim Shah to draft the constitutional amendment discussion paper.
According to the government, the task force has already begun its work.
The issue of constitutional amendment has now also been formally included in the government’s policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year.
