KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Nepal trounced India by 92 runs in a match held under the Hong Kong International Sixes tournament.
In the match that concluded at Mong Kok, Hong Kong, Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 137 runs without losing any wicket in the allotted six overs.
Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, will shine again
For Nepal, opener Sundeep Jora scored 47 runs off 12 balls, while Rashid Khan scored 55 runs off 17 balls before retiring hurt after completing his half-century. Lokesh Bam then joined Jora to add 31 not out off 7 balls.
In reply, India were all out in 3 overs with just 45 runs on the board. Only Bharat Chipli and Priyank Panchal reached double figures, scoring 12 runs each. Robin Uthappa and captain Dinesh Karthik failed to make an impact, scoring only 5 and 7 runs respectively.
For Nepal, Rashid Khan took 3 wickets in a single over, while Basir Ahmad claimed two wickets and Rupesh Singh took one.
This is Nepal’s first win after three consecutive defeats in the tournament. Prior to this, Nepal had lost to South Africa by 4 wickets, to Afghanistan by 17 runs, and to Sri Lanka by 3 wickets.
