KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has prohibited the setup of stages for musical programs and the organization of fairs during this year’s Holi festival.

The notice issued by the administration reads: “…All concerned are requested not to gather crowds in open streets or public places, not to organize fairs or festivals, not to set up stages for musical programs, and not to sell, distribute, or consume intoxicants. Activities contrary to the election code of conduct are also prohibited.”
The DAO has emphasized that Holi should not be used for election campaigning.
It has reminded the public that wearing or carrying items bearing election symbols, candidate logos, stickers, clothes, caps, vests, T-shirts, jackets, scarves, badges, masks, or hats is strictly prohibited. Use of clothing items such as vests, T-shirts, scarves, or other apparel with candidate pictures or election symbols during Holi is completely banned.
Additionally, to maintain the decorum of the festival, throwing colors or liquids on anyone against their will is also prohibited.
