KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) is preparing to resign from his post before January 20 following a seven-point political agreement reached with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) early Sunday morning.
According to KMC sources, Shah decided to step down after the agreement was finalized around 4 AM on Sunday. He is expected to complete all required administrative procedures and formally submit his resignation by that time.

Following his resignation, Shah is set to become the leader of the RSP parliamentary party and will be projected as the party’s prime ministerial candidate as per the agreement reached.
