KATHMANDU, Oct 21: An all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Sushila Karki to discuss preparations for the upcoming election and security issues is currently underway.
Leaders of 11 political parties of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR) are participating in the meeting that began on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
Prime Minister Karki organized a group discussion for the first time amid growing differences among parties regarding the feasibility and security of the upcoming HoR election scheduled for March 5.

This is the first all-party meeting PM Karki has organized since becoming prime minister on the background of the Gen-Z movement.
Earlier, Chairman of CPN–UML and outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had demanded the reinstatement of parliament, stating that the election cannot be held.
Nepali Congress’s General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali and CPN (Maoist Centre’s) Barshaman Pun and Pampha Bhusal are among those participating in the discussion.
Similarly, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice President Swarnim Wagle and Sobita Gautam, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Rajendra Gurung and Mohan Shrestha, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP)’s Chairman Upendra Yadav and Prakash Adhikari are also present.
Rajendra Pandey and Prakash Jwala from the CPN (Unified Socialist), Sarbendra Nath Shukla from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Resham Chaudhary from Nagarik Unmukti Party, Prem Suwal from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party( NWPP) and Chandan Singh from the Janmat Party are also taking part in the meeting.
Along with Prime Minister Karki, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, Agriculture Minister Madan Pariyar, and Chief Advisor Ajay Bhadra Khanal are representing the government.
Notably, former administrators and civil society members Kedar Bhakta Mathema and Bidhyadhar Mallik have also been invited to participate in this meeting as observers.
