Our Committment

Nepal Republic Media has entered its 18th year of operation today. Established soon after the founding of the democratic republic, this publication has traversed a journey marked by both achievements and challenges. Through its publications and broadcasts, it has consistently played a meaningful role in promoting good governance, freedom and prosperity in the country.

The media plays an indispensable role in energising a democratic system. Today, the country’s media landscape has evolved significantly, demanding adaptation to new realities. In particular, there is a pressing need to embrace the growing dominance of digital platforms. We have, therefore, moved forward not only by sustaining our print legacy but also by strengthening our digital presence.

NRM celebrates eighth anniversary

For more than seven decades, our country has remained engaged in continuous efforts toward governance reform. Citizens have consistently aspired for change at every juncture. Most recently, following the Gen Z movement of September 8, 2025, and the incidents of arson, vandalism and destruction the following day, the country has once again entered a new phase. After the general election held on March 5, 2026, the nation has secured a strong government, which now carries the responsibility of fulfilling decades-long expectations for change.

In this context, we are obliged to reflect and articulate the needs of the nation and the aspirations of its citizens. Democracy can only flourish in a society of informed citizens, and it is the responsibility of the media to ensure that people remain well informed. We have remained steadfast in fulfilling this role.

In today’s challenging environment, sustaining media institutions is no easy task. Policy decisions taken by the state play a crucial role in this regard. The media cannot simply be divided into private and state entities, nor can discrimination in favour of state-run outlets yield the desired outcomes. Ultimately, the media exists to serve the public. It does not operate solely for its own interests. While working for the broader public good, it is equally important to ensure the sustainability of the media industry.

With the advancement of information technology, the spread of misinformation has intensified. Traditional media institutions like ours now face the added challenge of navigating this complex environment. Responsible journalism also means protecting the public from false information. To meet this challenge, we must continue to strengthen and refine our practices.

Drawing on nearly two decades of experience, we have prepared ourselves to confront the challenges ahead. As Nepal Republic Media, the country’s first and only publicly listed media institution, we bear an even greater responsibility to deliver meaningful results. We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that our publications and broadcasts effectively meet the needs of the nation and our readers and viewers.

On this auspicious occasion, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our readers, advertisers, distributors, writers, journalists and colleagues. We are confident that the bond we share will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
