KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Sasmit Pokharel on Tuesday filed his candidacy from Kathmandu Constituency-5 for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
“The information claiming that our candidacy was not registered in Kathmandu- 5 is false. Our candidacy has been registered, and the election campaign has already begun. Thank you all,” Pokharel said after filing his candidacy.

Pokharel is a close aide of former Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah and previously served as an associate expert at the KMC City Planning Commission.
He had contested the 2022 provincial election as an independent candidate from Kathmandu Constituency-5 (A).
He was also previously associated with Bibeksheel Sajha.
