48 arrested for harassing passengers to board specific vehicles

KATHMANDU, April 2: Police have arrested 48 individuals for harassing passengers and forcing them to board specific (their own) vehicles at major departure points in the Kathmandu Valley.



A team from the District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu, detained them at Gongabu Bus Park, Kalanki, and Balkhu on Wednesday.

According to police, the individuals were coercing passengers at ticket counters, pressuring them to travel in specific vehicles, and engaging in unruly and abusive behavior.


Superintendent Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the spokesperson for DPR Kathmandu, reported the arrest of five individuals from Gongabu New Bus Park, 24 from Kalanki, and 19 from Balkhu.


Further investigation is underway.
