A div district league from April 15

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: District A division league football will begin from April 15 in the capital. Martyrs Memorial A Division League will also begin from the same day with 18 teams participating in the event.



According to ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has decided to hold the A division league after 37 from among 40 districts affiliated to them were categorized into A, B and C divisions on Friday.[break]



Ten districts from among 37 the districts are categorized into A division. The 10 title winners of A division district league will qualify for the regional league and top two from the regional league will qualify for the National A Division League.



The National League to begin from November 17 in the home and away format will feature 10 teams including top eight teams from the Martyrs Memorial League and two qualified from the regional league.



Bottom two from among A division district teams will be relegated to B division of the same district and a similar process would be followed for the bottom two teams from B division. There won´t be relegation for C division clubs. Top two teams from among B and C divisions will be promoted next year in the district league and will qualify for their respective divisions´ national league.



However, the ANFA is yet to finalize the structure and venues for the league. “A clear structure of the league is yet to be finalized as A division districts consist of clubs from Eastern to Far-western Region. So they might also be divided into two groups and top two from both the pools may again play for a place in national league,” Tuladhar said adding, “The structure will be finalized very soon, most probably in the next two to three weeks.



According to a statement issued by the ANFA on Friday, three from among 10 A division districts belong to eastern region, including Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari, while Chitwan, Makawanpur and Parsa from central region, Kaski and Rupandehai from western region, Banke from mid-western region and Kailali from the far-western region.



ANFA President Ganesh Thapa classified the districts into different divisions after he was entrusted the responsibility by the executive committee meeting and the 11th annual general assembly held in the capital on Thursday following discussions with district football associations.



Similarly, 12 districts, including Dhankuta, Ilam and Siraha are from eastern region, Rautahat, Sidhupalchowk, Kavre, Dhanusha from central region, Nawalparasi, Tanahau and Syangja from western region, Kanchanpur from far western and Surkhet from mid-western region fall under B division.



Panchthar, Sarlahai, Bara, Saptari, Baglung, Mahottari, Nuwakot, Dhading, Bardiya, Gorkha, Dang, Dolakha, Lamjung, Palpa are Udaypur fall under C division districts

Remaining three districts -- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur -- already have the structure of three division leagues --A, B and C.



ANFA forms regional committee



All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has formed regional football bodies on Friday. ANFA President Ganesh Thapa formed the five different regional committees as per the statute after he was entrusted the responsibility by the annual general assembly meeting held on Thursday.



Eastern, western and mid-western regional committees consist of 13-member working committee while central and far-western region consists of 15 and 14-member committee respectively. Santosh Baniya (eastern), Anilbandhu Rupakheti (central), Bishwa Paudel (western), Yubaraj Shrestha (mid-western) and Surendra Shahi (far-western) are the presidents.
