NC Spokesperson Devaraj Chalise said an orientation program for the party’s House of Representatives lawmakers is scheduled for 11 AM, and the party plans to issue a clear statement on Lekhak’s arrest before the session.
Lekhak, along with CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, was detained this morning as a part of the implementation of recommendations made by the commission led by former Special Court Chair Gauri Bahadur Karki, which investigated excesses during the Gen Z movement.
The newly formed government under Senior Leader Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah had decided on Friday to immediately enforce the commission’s report, paving the way for the arrests.
