KATHMANDU, Dec 13: CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has said that Nepal is currently being ruled by an anarchic government and the country is in a state of chaos following September 8 and 9 which replaced the rule of law.
Addressing the ongoing inauguration of the party’s 11th General Convention, Gyawali described the situation following September 9 as unprecedented, likening it to an attack on the country by a powerful foreign force.
The Meaningless Maoist Attack on Judiciary
“We are holding the convention under challenging circumstances. Just three months ago, the nation faced a catastrophic scenario unlike anything since the 1816 Sugauli Treaty. On September 9, major city areas including Kathmandu seemed as if they were under bombardment by a powerful force,” he said.
Gyawali added that following the Gen-Z protests, the democratically elected government was toppled and representative institutions dissolved. “The elected government fell. The House of Representatives, the seat of the people’s representatives, was dissolved. Rule of law was replaced by chaos,” Gyawali stated, criticizing the current administration for governing in disorder and warning anyone who speaks out against it.
Expressing discontent at claims that the UML and its leaders were finished, Gyawali emphasized that the party’s convention sends a clear message that the CPN-UML continues to move forward and will remain resilient.
