KATHMANDU, July 14: The area around Narayani, Chitwan, received the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, said the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).
Rainfall was measured at 335 rain measurement centers (45 manual and 290 automatic). Accordingly, precipitation was recorded at 243 centers in the past 24 hours, i.e. from 8:45 am on Monday to 8:45 am today.
Among the rain measurement centers, the highest rainfall (319.8 mm) was recorded at the Narayani Field Office centre in Chitwan district. Around that center, three other centres received more than 200 mm of rainfall, while across the country, 23 centres recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall.

Disaster management expert Ujjwal Upadhyay said that since Monday night, the low-pressure area that has developed in the atmosphere over Nepal has been moving towards the central and eastern Tarai.
He said that the continuous rain in Kathmandu and other areas stopped from Monday night, and today's weather will be a bit sunny and hot compared to Monday.
According to Upadhyay, the risk of flooding around the Saptakoshi and Narayani rivers will continue until midday today. The DHM stated that areas around Chitwan Bharatpur are currently flooded.
