´Health officials have been imparting trainings to motivate health workers,´ said Dr GD Thakur, director at EDCD. He said that the teams deployed by EDCD would reach all districts to study the preparedness. ´They will submit reports with suggestions at the end of their study,´ said Dr Thakur, adding, ´We will immediately act over the suggestions.´
The office said that necessary trainings have already imparted to health workers about the possible outbreaks of the disease. Communication channels have been setup at grassroots levels through which the center can act immediately. The office has already issued an alert to all health institutions across the country to be prepared for possible outbreaks. The office has also asked the health offices to inform it if they need more manpower.
Dr Thakur said that the office will request Health Ministry to arrange additional employees at health institutions that have been reeling under manpower shortage. Dr Thakur said that the office will suspend leaves of health workers during monsoon as usual.
The EDCD said that the office will also impart disaster management training to female community health volunteers (FCHVs), teachers and social workers to minimize risks. The office said that it will also take assistance of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working at the local level.
