KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Former lawmaker of Constituent Assembly and former minister Jitendra Dev has once again resigned from the CPN-UML, citing serious disagreements with the party’s internal functioning.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, Dev said he decided to leave the party as tendencies promoting individualism and the “deification” of leadership had become increasingly dominant within the UML. He also expressed strong objections to what he described as arbitrary and discriminatory practices in the party’s operations.

A native of Saptari, Dev had remained active in UML politics for a long time before leaving the party to join the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) led by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, from which he was elected to the Constituent Assembly.

After the Forum (Democratic) merged with the Nepali Congress, Dev was also absorbed into NC and later served as a member of the National Assembly. He rejoined the UML on July 1, 2024 before resigning again this week.
