KATHMANDU, April 6: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has brought four major retail marts under scrutiny as part of its ongoing market monitoring drive.
During field inspections conducted on Sunday, the DoCSCP found irregularities and has directed the firms to appear within three days with relevant business documents.

The marts asked to report include Metro Market Pvt Ltd (Imadol), Salesway Cash & Carry Pvt Ltd (Maharajgunj), Mega Mart Pvt Ltd (Bishalnagar), and Bhatbhateni Supermarket and Departmental Store Pvt Ltd (Chakrapath).
Similarly, Muna Agriculture Limited has also been instructed to present the necessary documents. Another 10 firms have been issued corrective directives.
The DoCSCP said it has been carrying out regular inspections in the presence of local stakeholders and consumer rights activists to control black marketing and prevent the sale and distribution of non-edible goods.
