KATHMANDU, March 9: A meeting of the four major political forces—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front—failed to bear fruits as parties still differ on contentious issues on Saturday.

UCPN (Maoist) leaders in the meeting held at Army Integration Special Committee secretariat at New Baneshwor demanded that the senior ex Maoist combatants undergoing training given at least a colonel and two lieutenant colonels posts in the Nepal Army. [break]

However, the proposal was rejected by the NC and UML leaders saying that the decision cannot be determined through political agreement, UML leader Bamdev Gautam said after the meeting.
