Fraudster stealing almost Rs 50 million from ADB in police net

KATHMANDU, July 5: Police have arrested an absconding individual on the charge of banking fraud worth almost Rs 50 million.



A team of police from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested 36-year-old Saujan Tamang, a permanent resident of Dhading district, for allegedly stealing Rs 48.8 million by hacking the system of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

In 2019, a group of banking frauds including Tamang had allegedly hacked the system of the bank and stolen almost Rs 50 million.


Tamang was absconding after a police investigation found him involved in hacking the system of the bank.


According to police, Tamang was presented before the Kathmandu District Court. The court has remanded the accused into custody allowing the police to further investigate the case.
