According to Dr Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, medical superintendent of the hospital, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has already approved budget for 150 more beds and nearly 100 more staffers, including doctors and health workers.[break]
Now, the Gandaki hospital will have altogether 500 beds and 600 staffers. “If our hospital is upgraded to a 500-bed health facility, we will be able to provide quality service,” said Dr Thapa.
Earlier, the Hospital Development Committee of the Gandaki hospital had forwarded its proposal to add more beds and staffers through the Health Ministry.
This is the second time in nearly a decade that the Gandaki hospital is all set to add more beds. Earlier, the Gandaki hospital had added 150 beds in 2004.
Although the Gandaki hospital has been able to add beds at least once in the last decade, the last time the number doctors, health workers and other staffers of the regional hospital was increased almost 25 years ago.
“Over the last two and a half decade, we have been delivering our services with the same workforce,” said Dr Thapa.
