KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Following rumors of hidden weapons at Shyalpa Monastery in Kapan, Kathmandu, an inspection was conducted on Saturday by a team of Hindu gurus led by Dr Basudev Krishna Shastri and Dr Chintamani Yogi.
Documentary Review: No Monastery, No Village
During the inspection, Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche opened all rooms for the team. No weapons were found; instead, 84,000 Buddhist verses and sacred scriptures were discovered. The monastery provides free accommodation, meals, and education up to grade 12 for children from remote areas.
Rinpoche emphasized that the monastery’s “weapons” are nonviolence, love, and compassion, aimed at overcoming ignorance, anger, and attachment. The Hindu–Buddhist team exchanged ceremonial scarves, symbolizing thousands of years of unity, and were served a pure vegetarian meal before departure.
